Extend your trip by 2 days and tour Tikal

7 Days/6 Nights in Guatemala: Antigua | Pacaya | Atitlán

Land in Antigua Valley and see the colonial capital of Guatemala. Hike up active Volcano Pacaya and trip out to magnificent Lake Atitlán. This trip brings you into the Western Mayan Highlands and brings to you the best that Guatemala has to offer!

Begin in Antigua Valley

When Spain set up in Central America they established their colonial capital in Antigua, Guatemala. See the Old World influence in the buildings, parks and plazas. Walk the streets cobbled with stones brought as ballast on Spanish galleons!

See Lava Flowing on Pacaya

Just a short drive and a pleasant walk away is one of the most active volcanoes in the world. Pacaya has as much in common with the surface of the Moon as with any other place on Earth. And, odds are you'll see lava flowing over its slopes!

Look in on Lake Atitlán

Among the largest in Central America and perhaps the most beautiful lake in the entire world, Atitlán has to be seen to be believed. The 100 square mile surface sits at a mile high and runs 1000 feet deep. The tallest of 3 volcanoes is over 11,500. The Lake is also a great place to experience Mayan culture.

Optional Extension to Tikal

Tikal is the gem in the crown of Mayan ruins and a worthwhile extension for enthusiasts of ancient cultures. Extend your trip by a couple of days and fly out to the Petén Province to experience the grand design of builders gone by.
